2020 Summer Program Announcement
An Open Letter from Director Sally D'Arcangelo and Board President Scott Wrenn
I hope this letter finds you well and enjoying some beautiful days of sunshine. It is an understatement to say that these last few months have been so difficult due to the Covid-19 epidemic. There is so much uncertainty in our lives.
It is with deep sadness that we inform you that we will not be offering our 6-week Summer Fun Programs this year. This decision was not easily made, we have had many discussions at the Board level surrounding running the programs at limited capacity. Due to limited staffing and room capacity in the AYFS building, we feel we cannot adequately meet safety protocols for staff and children without putting everyone at risk. This will be the first summer in 30 years that we will not offer the program.
Since the pandemic hit, we have been operating a curbside/food delivery program and offering supportive counseling services to families in the community. We will continue to work on protocols and plans to re-open our children & Youth programs. We have spoken with our EEC licensor regarding not operating our Summer Program. We will put together a list of other summer programs that are opening to assist you.
We thank you so much for sending your child(ren) to our Summer Programs. We value your past support. Our staff will miss the children so much. We always had so much fun together!
Please feel free to contact Sally with any questions or concerns. She will be in the office Monday – Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm or reach out by phone at 508.832.5707 extension 11.
